What is an orthodontic appliance?
It is a plastic appliance that cover the upper jaw, lower jaw, or a hybrid that cover both jaws. The appliance has an expansion screw, that contributes to the expansion of the jaw, thus optimising the placement of teeth, in order to sort properly.
When should it be used?
It should be used every night. Some cases require using the appliance during the entire day. It is allowed to take it off while eating only. At first, the patient might face difficulties speaking. They need to give some time to adapt.
How long should it used?
It is highly subjective. It varies between cases.
